A heated bathroom floor is the cheapest upgrade in a Barrie bathroom renovation and the one homeowners mention most afterwards. It is also the one that is nearly impossible to add later, because it lives under the tile.
Why it matters more here than it does in Toronto
Barrie has a long heating season and a genuinely cold one. A tile floor over an unheated basement or over a garage is a cold surface from November to April, and in the older Barrie housing stock the bathroom is frequently the coldest room in the house because it sits at the end of a duct run with one small register. A heated mat turns the floor from the worst surface in the house into the best one, and in a small room the running cost is modest.
A heated floor also dries the floor. In a snow-belt winter, a bathroom floor that is still damp an hour after a shower is contributing humidity to a sealed house. Drying it faster is a small, real contribution to the condensation problem that shows up on Barrie windows every January.

It will take the chill out of the room and it will not carry the room through a January night on its own if the register is blocked or the duct is undersized. How much does a heated bathroom floor cost to run?

Can you add a heated floor without replacing the tile?

What happens if the heating cable fails?
